Ok I have avi video files, when I play them they come up threres no picture, but theres sound and what should be the movie is appearin in Visuelizatoin(those colors that come up when playing music) and its all blocky! Why is that and what should I do about it?

You need to install codecs for that. Download and install DivX or AC3 Filter, K-Lite codecs. that will help you....

Avis are kinda tricky. They use coder -decoder applets during creation and replay. These run simultaneously in tandem with the player being used. When you try to play in windows media player and fail, including a no-play, a vid without audio, or an audio without vid, usually the title will show in color and/or an error message will appear. Click on web help or the title itself to get to a page describing the error. This will sometimes include a possible fix...i.e. a single codec download. Another approach is the "shotgun" approach. The CODEC pack downloads which are everywhere. Type Codecs in the search bar and you will find a free Pack somewhere. Install this and I'm sure it will solve all your avi problems, and it will fix them in all players. Restart the computer before attempting to play the movie again. Tip, find a pack which includes divx and xvid codecs if possible. These are 2 special avi files which require a little special codec trreatment to play.

well u have 2 choices. either download a media player that supports the AVI format, for eg: VLC Player, BS Player. the other alternative is to download a codec pack so that u can play files of several formats. K-Lite Codec pack is an example.

If you are only getting the audio, it means you are missing the decoder (codec) needed to read the video part of the file. There are dozens of different formats that can be used with the "avi" extension.
Go to http://divx.com (not a porn site inspite of the "x" in the name) and download their div-x codec. It includes a large collect of the most popular decoders for avi files and will usually fix the problem. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm is another source for a collection of codecs for avi.
