I'd say Led Zeppelin, seeing as 6 of their albums are in the top 100 best selling albums of the 70s and 3 are in the top 10

Led Zeppelin IV = 22,000,000 sales
Physical Graffiti = 15,000,000
Houses Of The Holy = 11,000,000
In Through The Out Door = 6,000,000
Led Zeppelin III = 6,000,000
The Song Remains The Same = 4,000,000

David Bowie had a new album out nearly every year and was very popular then, Hunky Dory, Aladin Sane, Ziggy Stardust, Pin Ups,to mention a few off of the top of my head, so he must be one of the favorites.

two groups had the same album in the charts for most of the 70s though Pink Floyds dark side of the moon, and Meatloafs Bat out of hell must have sold millions

Without checking any websites I would throw my two cents in with either Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones..

i comprehend the magnificent merchandising album of the 70s became into "Framptom Comes Alive", yet i think of The Who bought extra finished albums. whether or no longer they have been the magnificent of the entire 70s could be a competent question for the music talk board.

my guess would be the eagles first, led zep two, and pink floyd third. but this is just a guess.

looked it up - looks right.

ac/dc, fleetwood mac, the beatles, and elton john in there as well. i remember the fleetwood mac album the most, followed closely by 'the wall'. lay me down in the tall grass....
