I wasn't an Elvis fan until I went to Graceland. We actually took my mother for mothers day and we stayed at the Days Inn right across from his home, and they had an "Elvis station" it was documentaries and his movies all night long...After watching that station then walking into his home, I became a true Elvis fan. Not just a fan of his music, but of him..the person he was..I don't remember the price it wasn't over 40 bucks though...and even if it was it would be worth it...
PS you asked if I was amazed..There is one room that literally took my breath..His rec room...I walked in there and all the gold records on the walls, his awards, the huge TV with him preforming...I was amazed..I stood in awe.

I went about 8 years ago. I really enjoyed graceland and his personal musem. I don't recall the price but I don't think it was too expensive. The area around Graceland is very ghetto. Remember when Elvis bought it it was out in the country. So we stayed across the river in W. Memphis. There is a motel there owned by EPE called the hearbreak hotel. I was amazed that the price of the room was not outrageous.
If you want to stay for a few days Memphis has plenty to do. There is Mud Island, The civil rights musem, The rock and roll musem, and you must visit the Peabody motel and see thier ducks. They also have some nice places to eat and party downtown. I would go back again I really enjoyed it and I am sure you will too.
If you do some research on line and plan in advance the cost of the trip can be affordable.

Yes, I have been there before and after Elvis died. The atmosphere seemed alot better when the king was alive. Now it is a business. However it is a really cool place to visit.
I am always amazed. It seems to always have something new.
I have no idea what it cost. But if you like Elvis, should be worth it for you. I'm glad his, MOM never saw it this way. Hope you can visit one day. LUCK!!!

I've been but I didn't take the tour. I was driving from DC to San Diego and was on a really limited budget so I couldn't afford the $35 admission for the tour. We stopped in to the gift shop (couldn't afford anything), snapped a few pictures, and glanced at his personal jets sitting outside as we ran through the rain to our car. Oh, but if you do make it to Memphis, ask for directions to Woody's BBQ. You'll love it!
