I'm going to be staying at a youth hostel and I've never done it before so I was just wondering what its like? Do you meet a lot of people, is it fun?

its a wonderful experience, don't expect a five stars hotel, you will get a comfortable bed in a room of two or three beds, common bathrooms in each floor, good affordable meals, and you will meat a lot of different people,go ahead and have fun.

I stayed in youth hostels all over Europe and had a blast!!! Especially in Rome and Germany because most hostels had Beer Gaardens so we got drunk for cheap every night. You will meet awesome people who you might end up traveling with again sometime. I met some folks in budapest that I'm traveling with next summer. The conditions aren't hotel like but they get the job done.

Hostels are an quite sturdy way of assembly human beings mutually as you shuttle. they seem to be a inexpensive place to stay yet you will often be in a dormitory of four human beings (in spite of the reality that some might have as much as twelve human beings). i've got stayed in inns, and nonetheless do, and have had an dazzling time. I actually have a tendency to stay in Hostelling worldwide hostels (of which the English YHA is a member) presently as you recognize what you will get - they have a undeniable set commonplace so as to be linked with hi. I even have additionally stayed in some astounding independants yet additionally stayed in some grimy hostels with undesirable environment - the independants have a tendency to be extra hit or pass over than the hi hostels.

They're not bad. I've stayed in a few in Dublin, Edinburgh and NYC. I didn't really "meet" anyone, but it's fun hearing the exchange in accents. If you're a stickler for privacy you may want to reconsider since you'll be sleeping in a room with other people (how many depends on the size of the room obviously). I was terrified on my first experience in a hostel but it ended up working out just fine.

It is great fun, mostly because the other people staying there are likely to be kindred spirits or have something in common with you - adventurous, budget traveler or keen to make friends.

I stayed in YHA hostels throughout the UK and my experiences were super fantastic and I had a huge amount of fun. Just check on the rules, eg curfew, which may sometimes be a bit of a drag,

depends on the hostel, the city, and the country. ive stayed in hostels all over the world (5 continents) and they vary greatly.
positives: great places to meet new and interesting people, much cheaper than hotels
negatives: sharing a bathroom/bedroom with as many as 12 people (tip: buy earplugs, there's always one snorer)
