The final clean-up afterwards.
Let's face it, you have already worn yourself down making sure that everything got packed. You have the carrying of all those boxes and furniture into the truck at one end, to be taken back out of the truck at the other. And you KNOW how exhausting THAT is going to be.
But you STILL have to clean the old place thoroughly if you want to get your security deposit back. And it is a real mystery to figure out just WHERE all that garbage has come from, because you really did keep up with your housekeeping!!

Well I have moved a few times my self. All that packing and marking boxes as to what is in them and what room they go in once at the new location. Wrapping the all the glass ware individually with newspaper to protect it from breakage. Covering the furniture so it don't get scratched. Cleaning the old place so that it is ready for the next folks to move in. Some times you even have to clean the new location before you can even move in.
What do I hate about moving day? That would have to be the fact that after all I did get ready for the move, is knowing now I get to do every thing in reverse now. The unpacking and putting it all where you want it, then oops, it don't look good there, I want it over there. Oops, how did that get broken, after I went through all that trouble of wrapping it before I packed it. Of course you have to have all that extra money for the deposits that you have to put up. All the loading and unloading.
Hope your move goes well and that you enjoy your new place. I will miss you Wally, good luck.

Congratulations on moving to a place I am sure you will like. Condolences on the packing and everything that goes with it. My biggest hatred is having everything boxed, furniture dismantled and the movers coming in and taking three times as long to get anything out to the van. I couldn't believe it when for one move I asked the two guys what was taking so long. The answer was that one was training the other how to load the van. At the $62.00 per hour that I was paying I didn't need to be charged for that on my move. They even charged another hour to fold up the moving blankets. This move was two miles from a one bedroom apartment to a house.
Good luck to you.

Recleaning when I go to move in. Often things look clean when they are not. Then there is the oops factor when you start unpacking. Things you don't need, and things you inadvertently got rid of that 'now' you need. When I got an apt. again a few years back I had a wonderful friend that sent me 10 boxes of goodies for my home, small appliances to kitchen goodies to bedding and towels. What a life saver she was. Wish you well, just remember if you don't get it done today it will always be there waiting for you tomorrow. I swear my last move was a year ago--they will have to use a crowbar to get me out of here. I still have some things packed that I have not gone thru and I don't let it bother me. I hired a local moving co. that I had used years before. they were so nice and worked at a frenzy to keep my charges down. I had to move to storage prior to getting the apt. They did both moves for me.

Deciding what to do with all the left over junk. Loading and unloading the truck. Finding help. It's stressful leaving familiar surroundings and starting over somewhere new. Which cupboard should I put my dishes? Where does the bed go? Where's the television hook-up? The rug stinks and the walls are dirty. Should I paint and shampoo? Good luck Wally. I hope the new place is the happiest place on earth!

Everything, but I think what I hate the most is moving the small stuff that is left over. The rental truck has been returned. The helpers are gone and I'm stuck with lots of little things I forgot. Good luck with your move.

Your mind going in circles , did I do this ,did I do that, Is this going to be done when I get there, Have you ever had to move and the new place is worse than the one your leaving? I bet your first priority will be setting up your computer, One time my husband went ahead of my daughter and I and all he had to do was set up the water bed, her bed and the t.v,s when we got there, he did the water bed all right, but forgot to turn the water off while working on the t,v, the mattress all most to the ceiling, lucky it didn't burst,, Make sure you stop and take a break . Get back here soon

I'm not moving anytime soon, unless it's to someplace easier to take care of. This house is getting to be too much. It's a three-story townhouse with three flights of stairs. Too many stairs.
What I don't like is having all my stuff in boxes where I can't get at it. You always lose something. The thing you want is always at the bottom of the box.
Good luck with your move, Wally. Enjoy your new home.

EVERY single thing! I always wished I could go away for a few days and come back and everything would be in it's proper place. Good luck to you Wally. Are you moving very far from where you live now?

The Packing aund un packing is what i hated the most.
you want to start with the stuff that you dont use as much such as nick nacs, pics, books, magazinez, some clothes and tools(depending on moving date), Cds or records, want to start puting boxes by the door and label each one so you know what it contains so when get to the new house you aint saying where is this or that that i need.
Then a few days b4 moving you want to pack the bathroom stuff, dishes, and the rest of clothes and what else you didnt pack.
