The same thing happened to me, I was suppose to be a little over 6 weeks pregnant, and then did a vagina ultrasound and couldn't see anything. They too thought it was a tubal pregnancy, but I had no symptoms of it. I went back later that day because another doctor wanted to see me and do the ultrasound again, and she saw a tiny I mean tiny, little circle which starts before anything. She said it looks like I ovulated later then I should have and I was only 4 weeks. Then I went back a two weeks later which would make me 6 weeks 2 days, and they saw TONS more. My baby with a HEARTBEAT of 125bpm. Very healthy for that stage. And here I am now at almost 15 weeks pregnant and everything is going great. Don't worry, I think you just might of ovulated later like I did, it does happen. Good Luck, and Congrats!

I went to the emergency room due to pain when I was 5 weeks pregnant. They did an ultrasound and described to me that they're supposed to see "two dots" this early, and only saw one! I got really nervous, had to go to followups and everything because they feared ectopic pregnancy. Last week I went for another ultrasound and the sac was visibly in the uterus with the "2 dots" they were talking about. They told me that since my periods were irregular I conceived later than I thought and right now I'm only about 7 weeks when I should be more! All the worrying I did and my baby looks fine now, I can only wish you the same. You are kind of in the situation I was in a few weeks ago. I know it's hard but just try to relax and stay positive. Good luck with everything, you're in my prayers!!

well thats a bit difficult to say either way. Did they do an internal, vaginal ultrasound of regular pelvic one?
She should have done at internal one which, if you are only 5weeks should have shown a sac.
Just wait another 2weeks and ask for another scan to check again. Sometimes the egg can fertilise but not implant leaving symptoms of pregnancy without being pregnant. The brown discharge could have been the pregnancy terminating OR the egg implanting can also leave brown discharge and then it would be too early to see on a scan.
Don't stress about it. If you are not in pain, have no more bleeding and get another scan in 2 weeks, all should be fine. The doctor will be able to tell you more then too.
Good luck

Might be to early to see a sac, from my own experience. I was what I thought was 5 weeks pregnant. Went to ultrasound due to bleeding when I wiped. They did a normal ultrasound and a vaginal one and couldn't se anything. They could see a "spot" but couldn't say if it was a sac or a cyst. I had to go back in 2 weeks and try again. I went back when I was 7 weeks(so I thought) and due to morning sickness and not keeping water down they STILL couldn't see anything. Had to wait another 2 weeks again, at 9 weeks I finally saw my baby. And i was 8 weeks not 9. I was amazed at how much it grew in 2 weeks. It wasn't a perfect human baby shape, but you could make out arms and legs when 2 weeks before it wasn't able to be seen. Just relax and try and stay positive. Have you been getting blood tests to test your hormone level? I suggest you get this done as well as another ultrasound in 2 weeks. They say 2 weeks so it leaves enough time for more significant growth. Good luck.

They did an ultrasound before a pregnancy test? That seems a little odd unless they were looking for something else too.
Have you taken a pregnancy test?
