Couldn't the matter of the teacher letting the children call their teddybear Mohammed have been dealt with by the school? Surely there must be more important things in the world that need sorting out.

According to the BBC Radio 4 programme this morning (29th November 2007) Parents of some of the Children complained about the naming of the Teddy bear, and the authorities need to investigate.
It makes me glad I live in a relatively free country.
I find nothing offensive in calling a Teddy Bear after anyone, but naming it after a very respected person, is more of a compliment than an insult.
We have to try to understand the laws of Sudan, and how its people are offended, but Muhammed preached Gods teaching, he did not present himself as an Idol, so it is difficult to understand their mind set
I fear this will be ammunition for those sections of society which seek out faults with Muslims. The Koran does not sanction punishment for this innocent act, it is a fault with the laws of that country.

Hello,

(ANS) I would suggest that the business of the Teddy Bear being called Mohammad is totally and utterly outrageous. It shows a sick perversion of extremist religious thinking that has been twisted out of ALL reasonable proportion.

**I notice that this very nice very intelligent English teacher has almost been found guilty before she has been tried in a court of law.

**What kind of court of law will she be tried in? if it is an Islamic Sharia court then she will need all the help she can muster.

**Isn't it interesting how quickly Islamic extremists are at taking an innocent remark and making it into some sort of insult. It would seem Islamic extremists have no sense of humor, look for any opportunity to call foul.

**Isn't it interesting that Islam is the only monotheistic religion that cannot laugh at itself, takes offense at the slightest thing in contrast to Judaism or Christianity.

Qtn:- Surely there must be more important things in the world that need sorting out?? You wouldn't think so if your Sudanese or a Muslim.

Maybe it is because the profet mohammed is seen as a first Teddy Roosevelt. It is a title presuming an origin from the pharaoh Ham and means hommaged. The person could be an invention, as the electrum sagas do not include an author. It contains teachings but profesises nothing. Islam is mentioned in the bible. As are modern palestines - a euphemism for Philistines.
She should have called the teddybear Jesus Christ the Saviour

It shows the religion up -fanatical and mad.

I hope this will give other naive westerners a warning before going over to foreign lands where the culture is so massively different to ours.

If they are insulted by a teddy bear being named then goodness knows what other punishments they dish out for other petty reasons.

totally agree with you.

i am just wondering why arent the kids/parents be charged instead. these religious extremists are taking every chance to convince themselves that the west is against the religion.

while i agree that in a islamic country like that, she could have been more alert of the sensitivity issue (but hey she didnt name the bear), what would be more unbelievable is if we saw other moderate islamic countries jumping to support the decision.

The ironic thing about all this is that she is being charged for 'inciting hatred', but by sentencing a 54 year old woman to a year in prison or 40 lashes, over the naming of a teddy bear, it is THEM who is inciting racial hatred against Muslims and Islam.

I heard on the news that it might have been reported by the school principal,, Surely he could have taken his English teacher aside and explain it might not be wise to call the teddy Mohamad,,, Teddy is a good name anyway.
I aggree with you..

It's sick. She was teaching young children and didn't see the harm. This is one of many reasons nowadays that keep me far away from any muslim countries. What a waste. How ridiculous. I can't say anymore or I'll really let 'er rip.

yea... anyone could be offended by any name if thats the case! if they called it Ashleigh i would find that so insulting... NOT. I am failing to see the insult with this teddy. besides a kid has actually come forward and said 'it was me who wanted to call the teddy mohammed because its my name too'. its sick how she can 'pay her way' out though... you know.. 'oh we really believe what we believe in and its wrong what she has done, but were open to bribary if its goin?'

them f*cking muslims again, all they do is cause sh!t for the whole world. they should just die
