My wife is 20w 1d LMP and has some shortness of breath - especially in bed at night...I think this is normal enough but just wondering how many of you experienced it? Thanks in advance.

yes it is quite normal.
I would suggest if she is sleeping on her back to stop now (or prop herself up on a few more pillows, not lie flat) because that can make you feel breathless.(and it is not recommended in later pregnancy)
Sleeping on her side (especially the left) is preferable.
Tell her to use pillows between her knees if it feels uncomfortable.

This is quite normal. I had it when i was pregnant with my daughter 9 yrs ago. As the baby grows in size, the uterus pushes up under the lungs and this causes shortness of breath. It was always worse when i lay down, if she`s worried and stressing over it, tell her to check with her doc or hospital but if it makes her feel any better, i really was exactly the same. Next time round, im coming back as a man lol, good luck x

the uterus is starting to get very large now and the baby can be pushing up on her lungs and diaphragm which can make breathing difficult. This is why they say to sleep more elevated in bed as it eases her breathing.

Make sure she has some extra support pillows behind her and tell her to take long, deep breaths when she can. It usually gets worse before it gets better (until the baby drops down ready for birth; usually from 32weeks onwards)

good luck and congrats on being a daddy!
