I am currently staying in Melbourne, Australia. As summer approaches, there are more and more flies here. Unlike the flies from some other countries, they tend to stick on your face unless you do the "Australian salute" ( No offence intended )

I am surrounded by bushflies when I go out everytime. How can I get rid of them ? Use Aerogard? Other methods available ?

Get used to the great Aussie Salute my friend. Stick to the Mortein Aerogard and another product called Bushman Repellent. Unfortunately we're stuck with them.

I personally don't like aerogard. If you spray it on plants, they shrivel up and die in a few days, and I don't want that on my skin.

Unfortunately, aerogard or some other chemical product are probably your safest bet. And be grateful you aren't in the High Country. They have bloodsucking March Flies as big as your thumbnail. No amount of aerogard gets rid of those, and they hurt like buggery.

One tip. Don't wear blue. Flies seem to be attracted to blue.

I know what you mean, i was at Mt Isa for work and even with Aerogard the little buggers were hitting on me, so you might have to find something stronger, not sure what though, and those bush flies are something else aren't they.

the guy above me mentioned March flies, now aren't they tough little buggers.

you might try rubbing a little citronella ( hope that's spelt right . cocking head to side ???) on your face , this might be more natural than Areogard.

But Aerogard DOES work

I grew up in the riverina . .THESE flies in Melbourne are nothing at the moment LOL .. I think it's just a matter of getting used to the little buggars

Don't forget the aerogard. It is essentially harmless to everything except insects. It works - even in Mt Isa where I lived for four years.
