No there isn’t a woman behind every successful man or a man behind every successful woman.

Martha Stewart is still single and look at the empire she has built. Her current boyfriend is a rich man who purchased a trip on the Space Station. Neither one of them had anything to do with the other’s success.

Isaac Newton never got married; in fact there is a disputed rumor that he died a virgin. Yet he invented classical physics, which we still use today and the complex math calculus to explain it.

Often success attracts women or men to the successful person so many of them get married and a marriage is a partnership no matter how much or how little the person contributes to the successful person’s life. Also a successful person has the pick of a wide range of suitors so they can get married many have several marriages.

Albert Einstein was married with a woman who was in many ways his intelligential equal and it is suspected that she contributed a lot to his Nobel winning prize work on optics. However he had an affair and ended up leaving her. His second wife did not match his genius and he was still capable of doing great work. There is no doubt that Einstein’s first wife helped her husband, if she had a hand in the math itself is only something that Einstein himself could have told us, yet both of his wives helped him.

One common stereotype is for a successful man to get rich divorce his first wife (his starter wife) and to pick up a second wife (his trophy wife). Usually she is younger and beautiful and contributes little to his success except to look good.

Victoria Beckman made it big as a Spice Girl and after that she entered the world of fashion and made her mark there. In an interview she said that she was a little afraid of going back to the Spice Girls for the fear that she would not longer be taken seriously by the fashion industry. However, the Spice Girl’s partnership with Victoria’s Secret will only add credibility to her fashion pedigree. Meanwhile she married David Beckman a soccer (football to some of you) star. I doubt she knows much about soccer or that he knows much about fashion never mind the music industry. He may have married her because she was beautiful and became his trophy wife or she may have married him because he is a star athlete and he became his trophy husband. What matters is that they both became successful without the need of the other, but now that they are in each other’s life’s they help each other and are a partnership. But, both of them shine in different and independent ways.

These people prove the flaw in your theory, but there is no doubt that when you find the right person and get married, no matter how successful that other person is or isn’t they, they will add to your own success and you will add to theirs. Marriage is a partnership and partners work to help each other, because of that your theory may look true, but that is only an appearance.

There were times when the women were always behind men., those were olden days and the women helped the men achieve. But women have come up and are doing equally. So nobody is behind any one. Even an uneducated woman in a remote village can also do something and come up. So what we want is self confidence only..

Have to agree with manchu. I too think it should be beside not behind. But.....

see no woman want to believe that her man is unsuccessful. No woman in this entire world would admit that her man is an unsuccessful person. And this is where it all changes. according to different woman 'successful' means different things. Money or power is never the full defenition of being successful. probably to a woman, her husbands success is probably his victory against an addiction, or a fight against a disease, or a fight against an event. To different women it means different things. And according to them their husband is successful. Every one of us accomplish something good in this life time.

Another view,

every successful man has a women behind him. And that women is there to believe in him and to understand him. See, a mans true success is having that wonderful women beside him. And if that women beside him is wonderful, he would have the motivation to do and move forward in life, because he knows that there is a person beside him to support him in his roughest and toughest moments of his life. He knows that, that women who believes in him more than anything and that is the motivation every man need to have to be successful. One of the pillars of success in this world is to be in good relationship and to have a successful family that supports, love and adore eachother. If the husband and wife can trust each other, that is the biggest success that they could ever come across. See in this world, success means to give and share love and every successful family is part of that success. Every man or woman in a successful relationship is a winner. And to make that possible both the man and woman has to be beside eachother. See I can change that sentence a bit and still make it work. " Every successful woman has a man beside her." And it is true. It is that trust and belief that makes everyone successful. And believe it or not, we all are winners in this world.Every spouse should be able to see their partner as a successful person. And that trust and belief automatically make everyone succesful.

So, if you think that there are unsuccessful men around in this world, it is probably not because there isn't a woman beside him, it probably is becuase she doesn't see him as a winner in her heart, before the world sees him as a true winner !!!!

OK girls come and fight with me....pardon,fight with you or fight you.
Please make your questions clear to get a proper answer.

In the present day, with women being actively involved in everything, including the career graph of men, the phrase needs to be changed to:

"There is a woman BESIDE every successful man".

Its just a saying, I dont think there is a woman behind every successful man. Who was behind Mr.Vajpayee, Mr.APJ Abdul Kalam. It is the sincere efforts and hard work done by the individual makes the person a successful man. What you said are all superstitious beliefs.

The expression is little dated. Now it should read
There is a spouse behind every successful person.
Actually it takes not of people behind to make a successful person, that is why in award ceremonies the list of people to thank becomes longer.

Ya.. off course... there are millions of men in this world. Almost the same number of women also.. Why then only few men will succeed.

There are lot of people who are successful even without women behind them.......

No, of course its not like that. Even if a man is unsuccessful, women is there to support him. Its just a saying that
" BEHIND EVERY SUCCESSFUL MAN THERE IS A WOMEN..."
so we just say it.

But even if a man is not successful, then also a women is there. Of course not in his failure. I mean she is always there to console him, make him happy and moreover support him.

So women are always there, whether in good or bad situations and conditions...lolz.....tc...sweet dreamz...bye...
