Hi, im currently 38 weeks pregnant and i had a growth scan yesterday. They said the baby weighs about 6.2lbs at the mo but it can be out by 25%. Im due to have a section in 5 days and we are playing guess the birth weight. As the scan can be so far out, it makes it harder to guess but i was wondering if any of you had a growth scan, and how accurate was the weight when baby was born? was it a lot bigger or smaller than the scan suggested? im not at all concerend about the babys size, its just out of interest. thanks x

I had a scan at 37 weeks and was told it was a boy and his weight was 6 lb 13oz. I was induced that afternoon and my son weighed 6lb 12 1/2oz.

Oh Laula, i'm so chuffed your test went nicely and bubs is doing great. i'm helpful that settled your nerves fairly plenty! I in simple terms study something final nighttime that suggested from approximately 32 weeks, the infant will placed on approximately 8 ouncesa week. So dealing with that in case you went finished term of 40 weeks, he'd be approximately 8lbs. And boys do have a tendency to be a splash larger than females. yet as quickly as I have been to wager his delivery weight, i might say 7lbs 10oz. Oh! i'm so chuffed for you!

I hated those scans. They told me at 18 weeks -baby girl (one baby)
22 week - Twins Boy & Girl
38 weeks - 5 pound each Boy & Girl

Delivery Day 2 healthy boys both over 9 pound each.

I don't believe anything they tell me now!!
Good Luck with your baby!! xxxxxxxxxxxxx

always guess more. I would say add the 25% on rather than take it off. Babies are, as a general rule, always bigger than suggested. So if scan says 6lb I would say 7.5lbs.

My daughter was supposed to be 7.5lbs.......she was 9LBS!!! OUCH! wasn't prepared for that one!

good luck and best wishes for a safe and healthy delivery!

had growth scan 2 days before i was induced sayed my son was 5lb9 and that exactly the weight he was. i think it all depends on the dr doing the scan and how baby is laying how acurate they are

I got one last G/U before my induction. I was 37 weeks. They said he weighed exactly 7 pounds. When he was born exactly 7 days later he was 7 pounds 2.4 oz. So I think in my case they were pretty close.

I had the scan 1 week before my c-section. They said it was 3.75kg (sorry can't mention in lb's as that is how we measure). But after my son was born he was 3.34kg.
