PART A:

For problems 1 through 10, just think of the squares that are higher and lower. For example, 21 is between 4² (16) and 5² (25), so its square root will be between 4 and 5. Likewise 50 is between 7² (49) and 8² (64), so its square root will be between 7 and 8.

Cube roots are similar, but you just have to think about cubes.
16 is between 2^3 (8) and 3^3 (27), so its cube root will be between 2 and 3.

PART B:

Start by estimating as above. Guess a value for the decimal place and try it. If too high, guess lower. If too low, guess higher.

For example, 10 is between 3² (9) and 4² (16). The square root will be closer to 3. So let's try 3.2. If we square that we get 10.24? Too high, so now try 3.1. Squaring we get 9.61 which is too low. But which is better? 10.24 is closer than 9.61, so 3.2 is a better estimate than 3.1.
