What do you call head person in charge of a cathedral??

I know it started with a 'd' but I forgot what the tour guide called himself. He was like the head priest who took care of the cathedral, but what was it!!?

Doh. It's a RECTOR. A rector is the one controlling the BUILDING. For a cathedral, the rector is the BISHOP. For a church, the rector is the PASTOR. See the link.

The word is Dean. - As in Dean and Chapter (his staff)
