American titles don't literally translate Japanese titles sometimes. They use what Americans would understand better.

Yeah, when Card Captor Sakura was brought over to the US, quite a few changes were made. The first was the retitling of the series to simply Cardcaptors. The next few changes weren't as innocent.

In the English version, many of the episodes have been switched around, and some were never even aired / released on DVD (it was canceled). Also, the english version does a pretty large edit of the original script. For example the US version did the best it could to cut out all the obviously gay undertones that were present in the series.

My suggestion? Watch the original subbed version- as much I actually enjoyed the dub (voice actors anyways) of the US version.

The second episode in the Japanese version is called "Sakura's Wonderful Friend" .In the American version (where the story is changed quite a bit) the second episode is titled as Time and again..
I suggest you stick to only one series (preferably the japanese version with english sub/dub) Maybe this site will help you out-

For all my tv show questions, I go to tv.com.

The link for the 2nd episode of Cardcaptors is

http://www.tv.com/cardcaptors/partners-in-crime/episode/33739/summary.html?tag=ep_list;ep_title;1

The card that was sealed is Shadow

Are you watching a dub(English voices) or a sub(English captions, Japanese voices)?

This could be the reason for the difference in titles.

two possibilities:
Either, they finally chose another title than the direct translation

or:
the mixed up the episodes!

(wouldn't be the first series...)

wasn't Shield the monster of the second episode?
