Can anyone tell where's the dipstick of BMW 318i its e36 shape 98 model automatic needs to change gear oil but cant findout the dipstick nor even know how to change local mechanic in my area tried but he cant find out either any where i can get diagram ?cheers

Sorry, there're no dipsticks for the automatic transmission.

The only way to find out is to put the car on a lift, undo the fill plug under the car and see if the fluid is at the level where it justs starts to flow out of the fill plug.

Make sure to check with either your BMW dealer or Bavauto.com to ensure you have the right kind of replacement fluid.

A filter change is also recommended.

some cars are drain and fill but some high end cars have a short dipstick in place of long put car on lift and look just above pan area for a short rubber dipstick

There is no dipstick for this transmission, to check the ATF, the ATF temprature must be between 30c and 50c and the level must be equal to the filling openning lower edge
