No. First, for MLB to amplify, they're going to ought to amplify via 2 communities to maintain the quantity of communities even. in any different case there might must be an interleague game daily that's why the Brewers moved to the NL whilst the D-Backs and devil Rays got here into the majors, to have sixteen communities interior the national League and 14 interior the yankee League. it could have been 15 and 15. Secondly, there is not any longer probable a important city different than Sacramento that should help a MLB team. And the A's are shifting to Fremont in some years, so as that they are going to be drawing from the Sacramento area extra suitable than they already do. As others have suggested, the Carolinas, Las Vegas, and that i might upload Portland, OR could be the main probable applicants if MLB ever more suitable lower back. however the Florida Marlins have been rumored to circulate to Portland in the event that they might't get a stadium deal labored out.

If you look at the 5 teams in California (3 NL and 2 AL) it really makes sense. Not only is there enough following to support them, all of them have gotten very competitive in their divisions over the last 10-12 years.
Now from an interleague standpoint it makes for great rivalries --- Oakland vs. SF and Angels vs. Dodgers.
Geographically it makes sense also since the state is so long as well as heavily populated. And having lived there, Earl is right in saying that Northern vs. Southern Cali are like 2 different states anyway.

I believe that the amount of teams California has ( 5 ) works out just fine.... All you need to do is to look at The Attendece Numbers for each, then you should have your answer....Each team has their own Fan base, and out of the five teams after 2009 when the Oakland As will have their new park in fremont all but two of them will be in Fairly new Ballparks..

Teams belong where the populace is and where there is a demonstrated interest (or a long history) of baseball. It so happens that there are five such centers in one rather large state. NBD.
The Noo Yawk metro area used to support three teams; it could do that again. Heck, four. This will never happen, but it is a viable plan.

I don't know if California has one too many teams, but you are right they have a lot of Major League Baseball teams. And like it was pointed out it is a big state, most states are even lucky if they do have 2 basbeall teams.

Too many for what? With 5 teams and 36 million people, they have one for about every 7 million people. Proportionately, that's less than Illinois (about 6 million/team), Pennsylvania (6 million/team), Ohio (about 6 million per team), and Missouri (about 3 million per team). Do you think any of those states have "too many teams"?

no it doesnt, its a huge state, and its not all the teams are bunched into one city, like when new york city had a glut of teams
the la and bay area metropolises are obviously bog enough to support two teams apiece and san diego supports their team just fine, im honestly suprised there arent more teams, i certaintly think a city or two in more northern cali could support a pro team, like, for instance fresno or sacramento
