I'm just wondering if studying really works or not.

I was told by a Psychologist that the natural intelligence of a person will obviously make mental tasks easier, allow better retention than individuals with lower IQ's, HOWEVER,,,,,,,, STUDENTS WHO APPLY THEMSELVES DILIGENTLYAND STUDY HARD ARE ACTUALLY CAPABLE OF INCREASING THEIR IQ ! The increase may only be a few points but it has been measured. This is not much a change in intelligence but it has a dramatic effect ond their CHARACTER.

So if you are a brainy type continue to goof off and slide by you too can become a loser.

Sometimes, a student who is naturally smart is frustrated because he or she never learned an efficient set of study skills. This student sees other kids getting better grades with less work. As important as these skills are, many schools fail to teach them. Maybe if you spent some time reviewing your skills and made some improvements, you could make the work easier. Google "study skills" and you'll see a variety of websites that offer study instructions. Look for the ideas that come up repeatedly, like active learning and flashcards. Those are probably the most important things to learn. You might be able to find one or two good books on study. The best study manuals are usually books by faculty members in education and psychology, like Complete Idiot's Guide to Study Skills. Also good are How to Double Your Child's Grades, math books by Danica McKellar and course supplements like Cliffs Algebra I. The best memory tool is the flashcard. It's very efficient because you don't waste time on things you already know. For hard courses, you can write a composite reading notes/lecture notes outline and turn it into a set of flashcards, so that while you're taking the test your memory of the outline takes you to the facts you want like Google. Another thing to consider is that naturally smart people are sometimes "late bloomers." Not all gifted adults were child prodigies. Intellect develops more slowly in some people.

Some people are naturally smart, but most people that are intelligent study ALOT.

People think that I was born smart, but I study more than they think.

If you try hard enough, studying can get you anywhere.

Some people are naturally smart (of course they usually study to be even smarter) while other people aren't as gifted, so they must study more. Some people have a photographic memory which means they know a lot of facts, but might not know a lot! In general, the more info you try to absorb, the more you will know. Knowledge is power!!

studying is the key to the future and you can only do it if you put your mind to it and it will cost a lot of attention and offered and to tell you that truth is that sometimes when i was in first year in college, i though i was the dumbest of my classmate but my teacher or professor told me that some of this student know the answer because they study a lot or they read the whole book or what we are going to work on and they are a head of everyone. so she told me that not everyone is smart but you have to become one and studying before class or review your last assessment before you come to class really help so you won't seat down and be shy. so i did what she told me and just what, it works and now I'm in SDSU and I'm majoring in Multimedia engineering and Business Management. so like i said study is the key to the future and you have to look on your goal and dream and go and discover it by studying.

I get told I'm really smart a lot, but I don't know if it is that or because I have really good memory retention. I remember most of what I watch, read and hear pretty well, so I really don't study that much. I don't really have to. Plus I have this tendency to look stuff that we're NOT working on in school.

Smart people study and put in effort in their work.

If you choose to study, you have to give 100% concentration on your studies or else it's not very effective.

Lets say you have two people one not naturally smart (lets call him dumb) and one naturally smart (smart)
dumb can be smarter if he studies or the same if he doesn't
smart can be smarter if he studies or the same if he doesn't
in tests sometimes smart can do better than dumb even without studying but dumb can only do better if he studies.
if smart is really smart he will study so he always beats dumb.
but dumb thru hard work can beat lazy dumb and lazy smart people.
so the best thing is to study it works and will only improve what you have.

You have to have common sense to be smart. Studying only increases the level of smartness.
