velocity is the rate of change of position with respect to time i.e. delta x / delta t. x represents position and t represents time

acceleration is the rate of change of velocity with respect to time i.e. delta v / delta t. v represents velocity.

velocity is travelling at a constant speed in your car say 10 mph. Acceleration is hitting the gas pedal to increase your car's speed 10 mph to 50 mph. Acceleration can also be negative when you hit the breaks

Velocity is speed in a particular direction
Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.
When acceleration = zero, then it is equal to the velocity.
