I know that the law in California states that if a child is born into a marriage, the child is believe to be the man's child by marriage. Now I know of a case where the man found out that he was not the father after the marriage ended, but was still made to pay child support. Some states are trying to change that law but is is far from being done.
You really need to talk to a family court lawyer and a divorce lawyer asap!

It depends on where you live. The courts go by the best interest of the child. They do not see taking away the only father the child has ever known and taking away the financial support as in the best interest of the child. I would talk to an attorney about this.

They will usually force the guy to pay child support because he signed the birth certificate and helped raise the child.

If he has laid claim to the child as his and has been raising him as his own then the court will hold him responsible especially if it's been several years. He can although take you to court for fraud as some are doing now but the courts usually take the welfare of the child into consideration and he will still have to pay.

Generally, if you sign the birth certificate, you are screwed. However, a good lawyer ought to be able to help. Dirty women who do this should be shot.
