Like when i listen to happy, funny or as i call them perk me up songs and tunes, i feel really light and cheerful. Then again, when i listen to romantic songs with great lyrics, i remember my sweetheart, and then other songs make me feel nostalgic to people, places and memories .........

Is this weird or are you also like that? and why?
Could you say one or two songs that really gets to you?

@ Shalfat, Quran Kareem brings me peace of mind, and i like to read it very late at night. But that doesn't mean that there are times in the day when i need to hear music and songs while doing other stuff.
Quran needs discipline and attentiveness when it is being recited.

Al7amdulella I stopped listening to music. Quran Karim station and if msusic it will only be nasheeds.

This is very relaxing. I found other types of music make me nervous and depressed.

Edit:

@Farah:
thanks Farah.
I understand what you are saying, I am just telling you my experience with music since you have asked. I am not saying we have to listen to Quoran 100% of time. In fact I listen to Quran if I am in the car alone, or if we travelling long distances with the family and all of them are sleeping except me !!, that's alone too I think :):).

Edit:

Whaaaaat?!! Looooool, sorry. This proves that I am obsessed thinking about Farah's mass question festival. And Sherif's too by the way.

It's not weird at all, I feel the same way. I think most people feel this way when they hear a certain song. Like when I hear Celine Dion sing it really makes me smile, she has such a beautiful voice. Then Rascal Flatts get me into a happy mood when I hear some of their songs. When I listen to Casting Crowns or Mark Schultz, I feel so appreciative for everything I have. Music is a good thing, it helps us express ourselves when words won;t come.

Before Egyptology music was my work and my life. Everything revolved around music in one way or another.Almost everything that has happened in my adult life has its own "theme song",the good ,the bad, the ugly and even the indifferent.
I still love music and admit to having a pretty eclectic taste.
Among my favorites are,
Lauren Hill, I love almost everything she has done with The Fugees, solo or with the Marley Bro's.
I really connect to her "I find it Hard to Say(Rebel)"and "I Gotta Find Peace of Mind'.
Of course I love Bob Marley and think his version of "War" is still as powerful now as it was when it was recorded. The lyrics are actually taken from a speech, almost verbatim of The Emporer Haille Selassie to the United Nations.
"Get Up Stand Up" and "Could you Be Loved" are timelss.
"Lebanon" by Human League is as poignant now as when it was written and make me want to cry when I hear it.
The list is long and varied and includes diverse tracks from "Gangsta's Paradise" to "Purple Rain".
I recieved a new c.d."Into the Light" by Yusef Islam on the weekend as a gift and it has some really beautiful tracks.
My favorites are "Angel of War" which is new lyrics to Lady D'Urbaville and it really makes the tears come. "White Moon" and "Bana,Bana Wild World" a new version of the hit he had as Cat Stevens are exceptional.
I guess music will always be a big part of my life even though it is not my profession anymore.

First of all ta3aly hina ya sit hope! Sweet heart meen da ya 7ilwa illy btiftikreeh?! looooooool I assume you mean to say your hubby? It's an innocent question, don't get me wrong! *shifty eyes ... whistling casually* hehehe ;)

To answer your question, I can't imagine life without music. It does both for me actually, sometomes it enhances my mood, other times it changes it. Yesterday night I was as mad as hell and I was listening to some music where the raz3 and habd was an exact reflection of my inner emotions! A while later I switched to some softer soothing music that helped calm me down. Ho hos and twinkies helped too! ;)

Yes, I am like you. I would listen to some sad songs and feel very very sad although I have nothing to be sad about.
Please take Shalfat's advice and listen to Quran all the time. I won't pretend to do that myself. There are times when I listen to songs too, but deep down inside, I know what I "should" do. And there is a difference between what we "should" do and what we "like" to do.
Brother to sister, and if you believe that we're here to benefit each other, take Shalfat's advice.

I love listening to sad and romantic music. It also depends on my mood like if I'm sad I would listen to sad music, if I'm happy I would listen to some music that would get me going. So I can't say that music change my mood, on the contrary, my mood changes the kind of music I listen to.Right now I'm missing my husband so I listen to songs like sherine "btw7ashny", tamer "7abiby wenta b3eed" and ur ultimate favorite "ba7ibik wa7ashtiny" ;)
