Both Friction and Energy are the most important.... Without Energy life is not possible...
Now in case of friction.... Friction is also important because without friction we will not be able to walk... and imagine in a frctionless plane a body will continue to move with a constant acceleration.... as there is no retarding force acting against it..... thats why friction is essential

Friction.... I'd say no.
