The population at large is more in debt than they were in 1993.

The word "society" can be different things to different people.

I prefer the social order of the general population when discussing society, because as a group, we don't fit into a class where we have clout or high value.

We are the "dogs" in a social order where we have been manipulated to the satisfaction of those who have all the wealth.

1993 was the last remnants of a vibrant society.

Downsizing made us all very little and insignificant.

With our new millennium, all I see is a replay of the past century, mostly the sixties and seventies.

That's my assessment of the general social order we now live in, with exceptions, of course.

Very different. For one, there was no Internet..not like you know it today. There was no Internet explorer and graphic web pages. All web pages could only be viewed with text based browsers. The more popular things were online sites like American Online or AOL, which were their own independant online communities. At the most people could just send messages back and forth. There was no such thing as downloading music. Modems at that time could only download ONE MEGABITE AN HOUR!! In fact, the average computer ran at about 33 mhz and had 2 megs of ram and had a hard drive of about 40-60 megabites.

Kids didn't have their friggin faces tattooed and pierced.
If they did, the only way they could get money was by begging on the streets. Certainly no one would hire them.

The average person didn't have a cell phone. These were super super expensive and only show-off idiots carried them around.

Oil was like $15 dollars a barrel.
