I usually just say, TTYL at the end of an email.

If I'm using the word thanks I use "thx" Adding the n seems a bit pointless, you're trying to shorten the word as much as possible and you can do so without the n, right?

I usually use thx. If you use thnx its pointless. You might as well spell the word thanks if you use thnx. So, its better to use thx. Don't use the 'n' if your trying to shorten the word as much as possible. But they would know what you are talking about with both, though.

Thx, goodtimes and Xobubblegum.

To me, abbreviation is not always used to shorten the word for lazy typing, but somehow it looks/feels not too official, too dull and more relax. The same for LOL and all smiley faces. Thnx.

I usually spell out the word, but in the rare cases I don't, I use Thx.

The sound of X is KS so when we say thanks it sounds like "theynks" so we say thanx and since have the consonants th+ consonant we can say the word fast and get the 'a' sound

so it's thnx

That would depend how much I wanted to shorten it. Seriously, I would have to ask why one would shorten the word "thanks" in an email to save two or three letters. It seems kind of pointless to throw in "thx", if one is too disinterested to type "thanks". It just seems rude to me.

thnx. I just read and have to agree with Tony's answer you really don't save time and it looks much nicer. The point of a thank you is to be gracious so I woud continue to use the entire phrase. Thanks!

I say 'ta'. That's a common expression (for thank you) in Australia.

If you are thanking someone, spell it out T H A N K Y O U... otherwise I consider it as a half-way thank you.
