I was wondering if animals have their own names like if an owner calls their pet, "Arnold" but their real name is Jake.

hmm... if you try to translate the dog language but definitely no

the owner will give them

the first word they hear repeatedly they assumed that was their name

for example my dog is named Tangie(tan gi) derived from the word "tanga"(ta ngah) in tagalog means clumsy,loser..because she always bumps on the table feet on the post while walking since its a puppy so when i call her tangie she will respond to come to you..

thats an interesting question,i guess no one could really know but im sure they have some way of commuincating with a cerint other animal, maybe a way/sound to reffer to it but it mtght not be Jake lol i understand what your asking though.i know birds 'talk' to eachother uesing diffrent sound and that goes for dolphins, elephants and a verity of others so probably dogs as well, such as howling maybe?

i think they do. for example, when i got my first papillon, i listed off a whole bunch of different names to him, slowly and in different pitches, and eeyore was the only one he reacted to so, thats what i named him.

sure, cats have 3 names right? *LOL* one given to them by their humans, one of their own choosing, and one that is secret. Read "old possum's book of practical cats" by t.s. eliot :o)

maybe...

i'll ask my cat right now.

"sabre, is your real name sabre, or do you really go by something else?"

she was too busy eating. i'll have to get back to you later on that one.
