We were coming back from the cinima and saw a police car go past. when we got to the end of the road the police car was there and so was a young lad in the middle of the road. They turned his head away from passing traffic. The windscreen of the car was all over the place. But the part that sticks out most are the faces of his friends. They were hysterical. I will never forget that.

I work in a hospital and one scene I will never for get deals with a patient I was helping. I guess it would not just be a scene but an experience. A patient was dieing of cancer and their entire family was there (a rather large family). There was nothing left for us to do and the patient asked to be taken off her respirator and comfort medications. I stayed in the room at the families request in case something were to happen. I witnessed all of there good byes and watched as the patient took her last breath and as the family morned. I will never forget that.

We were in Puerto Rico and saw a horrible car accident. The windshield was cracked twice, once on the driver's side and once a lot lower and smaller on the passenger's side, obviously a child. Each starburst crack was coated with a thick, chunky pink splatter. I'll never forget it.

A lot of things. A goat being slaughtered for dinner in Kenya (sorry if that sounds graphic) really stands out now. But nice things too...beautiful sunrises, sunsets, photographs, artwork... and sad things....horrible car accidents, hungry children, deperate people asking for money. The mind does not forget things.

At this very moment. My mind goes blank....
But one thing I will never forget...would be when my dad left me. I held on to his pant leg as he tried to leave. He had to push me away to get out the door.

My mother laying across the lap of our next door neighbor and kissing him romantically. At that moment, I thought she was still married to my dad. She heard me crying that night and the next day is when she announced to us that she and my dad had gotten a divorce. It was devastating to see her with another man and her news like to kill me inside..... December 1969.
