We do not rank number one on many measures of development. For example

Given our vast resources we should ask ourselves why we don't rank number one instead of pretending we do.

Rich getting richer and poor getting poorer ?
That's not just America - that's just about everywhere, part of human nature I'm afraid
America's actually a good bit bigger than most countries so if they didn't have more experts in various fields then I'd be thinking there was something going wrong. Also the American news is watched all around the world so of course they get the great opportunity to show off their achievements.

One good reason is that they have been able to attract the best in the world(from all parts) since a long time. If you look at the great researchers, writers, philosophers.. many are foreign.

Again, how they could attract them in the first place, given the level of corruption in their own society... maybe their goods outweigh their bad.

Number one in culture? Though I do like certain aspects of American culture (I love football), the popular foreign view is that the US is cultureless.

WHERE THE U.S. IS ACTUALLY NO. 1

1.) Economy; the world's largest, most powerful and influential, and agile economy.

2.) Military; as of current, the greatest military power to have ever existed in all of history.

3.) Wealth: the US has the highest number of billionairs and millionaires in the world, with the highest GDP in the world (above), though not the highest in terms of GDP per capita.

4.) Healthcare: the US offers the most advanced healthcare, be it necessity (eg. triple-bypass heart surgery) or luxury healthcare (eg. breast implants), in the world, albeit only for those who can pay.

5.) Political Influence: the US influences the rest of the world, with some notable examples in history where the US has used military force to impose 'disobedient' nations. For example, the US invasion of Panama, subsequent 'annexation' of Panama, and the set up of a several metre wide barrier of official US soil around Panama to justify military intervention. No other country in the world enjoys so much power projection (eg. nuclear weapons, aircraft carriers, etc.) and intimidating power (both economic, political and military).

They were number one because, the climate there was good enough than the Philippines. In politics, they have no war in there court and no corruption of paying taxes and have equality.
