I think : to learn much, laugh much, love much and to be loved. When you leave the memory left behind should be good, helpful, soothing.

If you think some what systematically ,You will find many flaw in your question -- of course there must be so -- to communicate the greatest and perhaps oldest question of human -- an animal who and only who can have this question. I think your question is -- what should be the purpose or goal of human life?
variety of answers exist -- from enjoy and do what ever you like
to worship god and get peace.
In Hindu school of thinking there are 4 things - 1)dharma-ie natural properties which will do good to all, 2)money,3) Things what ever you want 4) MOKSHA - Perception of the ultimate truth ie there exist one and only one thing in reality and thereby attain permanent equanimity and go out of all the sufferings , which does not exist in reality-- that is to be put off the illusion in which all of us are in and ignorant of.
Since attainment of the last one makes other three superfluous
the 4th one is the ultimate goal -- peoples says that the state is beyond perception through the informative systems provided by the designer of our body and mind -- and hence complete shut off gives the perception and the state cannot be expressed since not experienced through the system.-- only some indication is known - the state is everlasting joy and consciousness.
Above is also my belief - though not tested

A question, what happens after we are dead? Question two, What is happening to us three days before we are conceived?
We don't know anything about before we are born or after we are dead. So we don't know that the six infants lost their lives, period. I don't believe it any longer. Those infants still do have a life to live or something because life works out in some way we can not know at this time. It all works out!
Faith for me is that it all works out, somehow, but we do not know how, but it does.
Now the question is not, What is the meaning of life?, but what is the meaning of believing that their is no recovery, discovery, transformation, information and so on.
Grey's Anatomy, "It is not the dream that is so wonderful, it is that we can dream at all." If we can dream, imagine then anything is possible!
Of course, when death comes, then we walk alone for a moment at least. But it is only a moment because we can conceive of many other outcomes.

The meaning of life is all relative. I say that because according to me, I'd say life has meaning because I have to experience it, but if I imagined looking at it from an outside perspective, it is pretty much meaningless. So let's make the most out of this meaningless existence, and maybe we should take a little advice from Thoreau. We should BE instead of live, because BEing is so much more interesting.

Tiffany, do me, and yourself, a favor. Consider this....
If there was one, definable answer to the meaning of life, would you have to ask this question? Wouldn't you think that someone would have posted a link to it already?
And if you have heard people say that the answer to life is to find your own, why haven't you done that? Or more importantly, why don't you believe it?
[edit] It seems to me that you, and many other people, are not really looking for the answer to the meaning of life, you are looking for a reason to feel connected to the whole of the world. The plain, hard truth is, you already are.
[2nd edit] The worst part is, you don't even realize it.

I believe the meaning of life is to live your life so that when you leave this world, no matter what you believe, you have left it a better place in some way, for the next generation making the same journey.

The answer is in front of you--it's me.
I am your meaning to life.
How do you know I am not? Maybe I possess every possible thing you could ever require, desire, or understand?
Maybe this is your meaning, that is, to question the meaning of life? (If it is, you'll be seeing a lot more of me)
Maybe we're in The Matrix? Maybe you like turtles too?
Maybe there is no spoon, or what's a spoon? Believing there is no spoon doesn't mean you truly know or understand what a spoon truly is.
Perhaps the absolute quintessence of a spoon is something that of a god? Perhaps we should question the spoon?
or the turtles?

Life goes on, we go round and round in the circle of life and death. Someone shot a poison arrow at you. It is just like life, being sick, suffering, experiencing heartache, hunger, etc. Would you chase after the person who shot at you? Would you have time to do so? Or would you find a cure for it. You still want to ask what is the meaning of life? We have enough burden living our lives already. Just eat sleep be happy, enjoy life. Thats the best.

If a baby turtle is able to make it off the beach does it contemplate what to do with it's potential two hundred years. Not really it hopes that nothing is out there to eat it. So it goes with our lives you just live your life try not to complicate your life and while your living you hope nothing really bad happens.

Learning to love God completely, love colleague as Self, love as Christ Jesus, Truth, loves, and ascend in the Light of God as have Enoch, Elijah, Jesus, and many other Saints is meaningful.
Try reading "Climb the Highest Mountain," Mark Prophet, "Men in White Apparel," "Expecting Adam," Martha Beck.
