I just bout two new pair of 6x9s and i hooked them up and i cant get one speaker to work....If i pluged the positive wire into the negative opening on the back of the speaker could that have blown them?

No. That will cause distortion, but won't blow them out. If you plug the know good speaker into the line for the speaker that is not working, does it work? If so, you have a bad speaker and should return it for replacement. If it does not work, then you have a problem either with the radio or the wiring for that speaker and need to investigate that.

I don't think so. Heck, I've probably done it many times over the years and I haven't blown any. If you have too much power for the speakers and you crank the volume up all the way, that could do it. Recheck your connections and wires.

No... it wouldn't the speaker will blow if you plugged the positive wire into the positive opening

No, that won't hurt the speaker. Sometimes a tech will do that on purpose.

actually yes, crossing wires can easily blow speakers, sorry to tell you buddy, time for new speakers...
