Lol. No way. Do whatever you want. I mean, if you a yellow tux with a bright pink polka dotted bowtie you might have issues, but until you do something like that, you'll be fine.

Semi formal dance had the girl in a fairly fancy dress while her escort wore a dress suit(matching trousers and suit coat ). It would be cool if the tie you wore had the same coloring as her dress. Shows you are creative and observant.. If it is formal the Tuxedo rules.
