There's nothing knew in the high rate of teenage pregnancy in UK. My mum was a teenage girl when she had me back in 1941. Her husband, my dad, was also a teenager, but he was off in the North African desert fighting the Krauts at the time.

God said, "Go forth and multiply". Why do politicians get their knickers in a twist about teen pregnancy? It's just a load of cobblers to distract our attention from their corrupt administration and the way in which they squander our hard earned revenues.

One final point. Governments do not have any money. The money they spend with such profligacy, is actually our money. I sometimes wonder if I'm not sponsoring an army of spendaholics out on the town with my credit cards.

Teenage pregnancy is defined in the United States as an underaged girl becoming pregnant. However, in the United Kingdom , there is a legal definition whereby a woman is considered to be a pregnant teenager if she falls pregnant before her 18th birthday. The term in everyday speech usually refers to women who have not reached legal adulthood, which varies across the world, who become pregnant, im not sure if the term is the same in the rest of Europe (and if the definition is different then its not very accurate) also i beleive it is UK that has the highest rate (as in ENGLAND , WALES ,SCOTLAND + NORTHERN IRELAND) .. not just england.

also if you look at russia or usa for instance (which has a higher rate) i think that one could summise that both have an over higher rate of pregnancy so maybe there is a link to the fact that if a country has a higher rate of over all pregnacy that the teenage pregnancy rate will be higher (as in is there any country in europe that has more total births and less teenage births than the UK) , i have no idea on that so should check it out

that said the easy answer would be 'slag' or 'sluts' but i think that is very narrow minded and 1 dimensional. the UK also has highest rate of abortion

Maybe its because we have a very mixed culture compared to other countries which has resulted in many people not being very religious and so without religious boundries people 'experiment' .. i dunno

also maybe other teenagers from around europe are having sex more than uk ... but use a condom or other protection ... maybe people in the uk just stupid lol

Probably because we have a greater family break up than the rest of Europe, also the Social Security system makes it possible to live as a single mother and the housing rules make the local authority house single mothers. I also suspect that teenage pregnancy is socially stigmatised on the continent.

I would think it is the easy way out for some,they think that having a baby is like having a new pair of jeans,it is an accessory and of course our silly government seems to supply them with everything they need from furnished flats to anything else they can get then the tax payer foots the bill. Not all single young mothers are like that however it seems to be the case where I live

i think this is because most young girls know that if they have a baby they will have a place of their own they know the local councils will not leave them on the street.
the best way to stop this is to make them still live at home with their parents friends or relatives they may think twice about it instead of putting them in baby units for a year and giving them a council flat or house.
(At least until they have reached 18)
if the girl is 13,14 etc and the lad is older they shouldn't be giving him and his girlfriend a place until she is old enough to hold the tenancy otherwise we have children looking after children in a property they pay rent on.

We hype sex on television, news papers, movies etc. and children become conscious of it being a pleasureable thing and they start fondling their sex at very early age. At a time where girls and boys are together they become intimate and start loving each other. Since, we are living in a free society, having sex has become part of dating. That freedom leads to early pregrencies. Hence the problem. Sex should not be hyped and sex education should be given at early age. That should solve much of the problem. If having sex is not taboo, children should be made aware that use of condoms is necessary to prevent pregrancies. How can u stop sexual relationships when live-in relationship is replacing marriage.
