I live in florida, and really just work and stay at home most of the time. I like to go out but not too often. I was wondering, what an average expenses are for a single person these days. I serve tables fro a living, and want to know what to expect when i finally step out the parents roof. I want to get a good running car before i do it, but I would like to be out by april of next year. anyone who can point me the right direction, with average expenses and things like that so i can relate I would really appreciate it. thank you

You can do a search for apartments in your area.. use yahoo search and your city and state... you might find listings on line.. or buy a newspaper.... same for car prices...

You can probably ask some of your single friends or people you know who live on their own about what their electric and other utilities cost a month.. let them know you aren't trying to pry, but are planning for the future and want to know how much things cost.

that's my best answer.

It is expensive anywhere to live alone on one income. Be sensible and do some research and a budget on what you will have to spend. List items you must have such as rent, food, utilities, phone, insurance, car payments and gasoline, etc. You will have to decide what is an absolute necessity, for example you may not want an expensive televison/internet service package. In larger cities some people choose to take public transportation or walk rather than have the expense of a car. So think about options.
Call a few agencies and ask about rental prices, or check the local papers. Find out if there are places that include the utilities in the lease. Call the utility companies, ask your parents, or friends what the rates are.
If after you add everything up you find it is too expensive, consider saving for a few months to reduce some budget items such as car payments, or consider looking for a room-mate.

Check around and find out what a decent apartment rents for. Then figure about $100 for electric although it will fluctuate, at least $300 a month for food etc, car payment, car insurance, gas, extra for emergencies like medicine or car repair. At least $1500.00 a month. Try to get a room mate.
