my tv is already set to s-video and everything is connected correctly
my laptop is an ibm t40 think pad
my graphics card is a standard VGAgraphics adapter
chip type ATI mobility radeon7500 w/e means i dont know if that will help any thanks alot

Try lowering your display resolution to 640x480, SVideo can't handle high resolutions. If that doesn't work then check your manual, sometimes you need to manually enable the SVideo signal.

U still need to go into display properties in hte laptop and ENABLE the TV OUT socket, probably also need to turn on Extended Desktop and select CLONE to send a copy of screen to the Svid cable output

right click your desktop, then click the 'settings' tab. you will see two 'monitors' labeled each with a 1 and a 2. click your number 2 then set the screen resolution using the dial by making it take on the same dimensions as your tv. when I say 'same dimensions' I mean make it look proportional in its dimentsions to your actual TV screen. then right click the 2 box, select the 'attach' option. make sure the box about extending your desktop on to the other monitor is checked then click 'apply' and set your TVs input to s-video. that should do it.
