Humans are by nature highly social animals. It's been a crucial survival skill for us in the past, as it allowed us to communicate dangers, form alliances and share wisdom & strategies.

You may want to check out the book "One Planet, One People: Beyond Us vs. Them" by Carl Coon. It explores how humans' concept of "us" has been gradually growing over the eons, from family to clan to tribe to nation to global village.

Everything said its true, the concept needs a bit of work to make it complete, but then nothing he's said hasn't already been said before he's just grouped them together and given an explanation.

I think we've got to get over the whole monkey thing and evolve intelectually as humans in our own right.
