OK... well I'm writing a book and in one of the conversations of one of my characters they need to describe the sound of jets over head, you know something like - "hey do you hear that? said Nick as they heard the sound (-----) what should replace this (------) I cannot find the right words to describe the sound of jet engines... can anyone help me out . (Fellow writers) And just in case you are wondering the engines are not propellers..

I know this is kind of a dumb question... sorry.

The engine roared with such force you could feel the rumbling in the ground below your feet. Or the roar of the engine like a freight train shook the ground like an earthquake. Hope it helps a little.Good luck
