Drinking age here in Canada is 19. Down in the States, 21 is a bit high. But people these days aren't mature enough to handle the very real risk of alcohol. I'm a recovered alcoholic who started to slip again and have now been sober for four weeks. I know first hand how dangerous the stuff is. And I know first hand how easily it is for kids to get into it and trapped by it.

I started drinking when I was 15. Severe drinking problem by the time I was 18. Sober at 19. I've recently started drinking again and lost control all over again. It has that effect on me, and I'm a very strong willed person. If it can take over me, it can take over most any person. As I said earlier, I've been sober for four weeks now and that's the final time I'm going to drink ever.

What we do with the drinking age is a very serious debate. It takes far more than four choices and takes far more thought than found in P&S. And in all honesty, I don't know what to say. I can only vouche for my story, no one else.

it should stay the same... with high school kids graduating between the ages of 17-19 and if drinking was lowered to the age of 18 I think that it would allow kids to gain an easier access to alcohol... Life is short and enjoy it because once you are able to drink legally and gamble legally for that matter, it really isn't that big of a deal afterwards...

Raised.

We have enough younger drivers dying as it is.

Edit: It seem there is a misunderstanding here. I think I got thumb down because people think I meant "raised" - from 21 years. I forgot that most of you are in the US. Here in Australia - it is 18 and I think it should be raised to 21. OK? Clear?

Lowered.

There wouldn't be as much underage drinking because not as many teens would have a reason to rebel against the drinking age.
