How can this concept be employed to define an appropriate relationship between unity and diversity within society?
Concept:
Women's control over reproduction vs. state interest in unborn life.

I'm not sure that it can be in any clear, coherent manner. Reproductive rights vs. abortion bans doesn't have much to do with unity vs. diversity. A person could be on either side of both issues.

About the only link I'll make is that when a politician talks of "unity," often that is a code word for forced unity, or the tyranny of the majority. In such an environment, the individual is often subsumed under the larger goals of society or gov't.

I don't think the state really has an interest in unborn life. If it did, it would try to take care of unwanted children (the foster care system looks and sounds like hell on earth).
