Suicide is one of the top 4 reasons a teenager dies. It may not be direct but it is a good reason to be nice to that kid everyone else picks on.

And if they die on the inside a little each time they are bullied, does it matter if the person physically dies? The hurt they feel may seem worse.

Either way, even if it doesn't cause death it is still detrimental to a person's self esteem.

Bullying is such a hard problem to deal with because violating the "Code of the school yard" by telling teacher/parent etc. Most kids are afraid angering the bully more. Bullies themselves are dealing with feeling of inadequateness and prove everyone else to make their pain seem better. Some parents even seem to allow such behavior. Bullying is a cause for many kids dislike of school which can have a great impact on their quality of life later.

If you are trying to deal with a bully yourself please talk to parents, teacher or whomever you feel comfortable with. At least alert them to the situation. Ask an adult to maybe keep an extra eye on you in certain situation. But please, if you are in fear of death from a bully, please find somewhere to turn.

ONE TOO MANY IIS FAR TOO MANY! It is a shame that this is happening...kids have been known to be cruel over generations...but now kids are beyond cruel, they show no mercy-care-concern for another whether human or otherwise! Scary thought that the youth of generations to follow will be raised within the poisioned mindset! The internet highway has proven to be a dangerous area of high risk on your own domain...unfortunately! But just like everything else, there is always someone somewhere that has to figure out ways to 'ruin a good thing'...with the internet it happened like a cancer that has metasticized~ sadly~ Take care~

I'm a mother of a child that has been bullied for years. sometimes the only way to stop a bully is to stand up to them. so we thought. my son is 15 a good kid. and im not just saying it cause i have more then one child and can see my other child being bad but not my son. hes quiet, well behaved, never disrespectful. he finally stood up to his bully. my son kicked his tail. but it was at a great cost to my son. he got exspelled and now has assault charges on him cause a teacher stood between the boys and my child went after the boy again and bumped the teacher. now my son thinks his world is over, goes to a school now where theres 7 kids in it and all have been exspelled for drugs. he has court the 18th and he is very worried about it. now i have to watch him like a hawk cause im scared he might do something to harm himself.

wow... this was a thought provoking question.

it's a shame other children have to be cruel to those who are different in some way and bully them.

i would suggest to anyone who had this problem to let their parents know how they are FEELING... feelings are something which are not taken into account these days, and all too often people are suffering emotional pain....

I don't know I try not to think about it.

I'm just sitting here, and deep in my mind I know that like:
"ok, 3 teenagers just killed themselves in the last 5 minutes; 3 more will probably kill themselves within the next 5 minutes.

The rate of suicide is 9-10(9.6) people every 5 minutes,
approximately 2777 people a day - kill themself.

2777/10,000,000,000 - it's barely noticable.
But still my answer is, - Too damn many.

We don;t know, as there is no way to tie some aspects of bullying with any given death
