Well, of course I have to say Paula because she's our star here in Savannah. Was just chatting about her to another member and about her beautiful home about a mile away on the river, where they do her cooking show...and how Paula's Party is done just down the road at her brother's restaurant. No matter how big she gets, she still makes it a point to support all the small local businesses and promote them.

Then of course there's Rachel...who's from my home-town area. She's another one who has worked hard to get where she is, going from doing little spots on the local TV station to having three different shows.

Both have real simple styles of cooking, which is just what I look for. These days, the easier, the better!

I loved Rachel when she just did the travel show and ate on
$40.00 a day. But after she began her TV show I have been
getting more bored as it's gone along. I don't care for the
recipes she's done on TV either. I know that Oprah got her
up and running, but I think somethings' changed. I think she
is still semi cute, but for show content, give me Paula Deen.
She's so comical and so what if her recipes are fattening. She even points out, she likes "lots of butter" lol. And her
food always looks wonderful when she's done. I never have liked Rachels' presentation of her food. Display is not one of her virtues. It seems her 'look' is 'thrown together'.
We no longer have cable so I can't watch the Food Network
and I do miss it. My hubby was always taping segments to
cook certain things and did use them several times. He also
likes Giada and Bobby Flay the best. But he'd indulge me to
watch the once a week evening show with Paula Deen and
Friends or whatever it is called. That was a fun program, or is.
It always had a party atmosphere. And I could hardly wait to
see it each week and join in the fun.

I like Paula Deen, but her recipies have too many calories and fat,I like Rachael Ray but she cooks too Italian for me,and I like The Barefoot Contessa, she is not as bad with recipies as the other 2,and I love that she loves her husband so much, I like her manor of cooking.

Rachel Ray can't cook and I don't consider her a chef. She even admits to it herself. All she does is throw everything in a pot or two and call it a meal. No presentation what so ever.
She also can't bake, and admits that too.
My pick would be Emeril or Paula Dean, her recipes are too die for literally, too much fat, but so what, they are dam good.
Good old down home Southern Cooking.

Ina Garten --Barefoot Contessa, although I'm not certain she is a trained "chef".
Regardless, she is one classy lady and knows HOW to cook. I LOVE her!!!

In my opinion, Rachael ray has no clue or business being on tv as a "cook" or otherwise. She is not a "chef' and has admitted that. She screams, cackles and flails her arms around like a lunatic.
rr's messipes are fat and calorie laden and totally disgusting. Just check out her site on Food Network.com and you will see some revolting "food" pics.
I can't stand her "dumbing down America" approach.
Thank You for letting me vent.
