sure, but then it wouldnt be fair to the people that worked really hard to earn that money. IF you did that, the the poor people wont have to do anything but they still would get a good chunk of money. Besides, its better for the rich to give it up VOLUNTARY because they would be giving it from their hearts.
Honest work for honest pay and giving them money eventhough they didnt do anything to deserve it doesnt follow that motto.

Have you ever read a History or Economics book? Why don't you give away all your worldly possessions and lead by example? Or are you a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of person? Once again I'll quote Dr. K:
The people who pay the highest taxes get the most
benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might take their business overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier, or not reinvest in the community.
What exactly is your major malfunction? Why do you hate hard working people so much? Did mommy and daddy make you get a job to put gas in your car or something?

Let me rephrase that... you are well off, your able to get online, which is more than many poor people have, are you willing to let them take a big chunk of your money to help the poor? Everybody thinks somebody else is rich, I bet you bill gates thinks hes just middle class. Where is the cut off for taking money? Its a lovely thought, until you realize your standard of living would be going down.

Again no. What is it about Communism you love so much? Yes, on paper it looks great, but look at history. Every time Communism has cropped up it has two major things happen, masscres and still a rich governing class and the poor. How is that better? It's not, and the American people do not want nor will ever need Communism. If you like it so much, move to China or Cuba and tell me about it.

Tell that to a person whose an Engineer or a Surgeon or a Lawyer. They spend years going to college, then work 60 hours a week (average time of an Attorney in my city) and he works hard for his paycheck. It may be a lot of money but he earned it. It's not the governments job to decide who should get his money. Equal opportunity to gain wealth. Not equal distribution. That doesn't work.

No, this isn't a socialist state yet. Why should those that have worked hard to become wealthy suffer, so that those who don't work as hard, or at all can live comfortable?
Capitalism may not be the most fair economic system, but it beats the hell out of socialism.

That wouldn't be American. Private property rights are a foundational part of our US Constitution. Once these rights are violated, our country is nothing. Everyone will have an equally low quality of life. Why would we do that? It's been tried in various countries over the past hundred years or so and it fails miserably every time.

How about this idea instead. Get off your lazy butt and work. Keep working and saving your money that YOU earned. Voila! Now you have money too! It's amazing how that works!

Of course not. But I think the rich should pay their fair share of taxes. Republicans like to eliminate progressive taxes and replace them with regressive ones so the poor pay more. And they feel it's immoral, somehow, to tax income made by investments or inheritance. But it's not immoral to tax wages!
And I think the poor should have opportunities to better themselves (e.g. education).
