trying to manipulate people into thinking that rape happens less frequently (by causing people to believe that a woman couldn't have been raped if the incident resulted in pregnancy)?
I've heard/read the following claims: 1) That women can't become pregnant during rape because the trauma causes them to release a secretion which is capable of killing sperm. 2) That women can't become pregnant during rape because of the lack of secretions responsible for bringing about ovulation.
Where do people come up with this stuff?

Huh.
I'd think the individuals saying that weren't very educated. Or the females of their species have a different biological system then human females. Because I'm pretty sure that if we human females could secrete spermicide and control ovulation, there probably wouldn't be a need for birth control.
It sounds like the people who are saying that are trying to put the blame on the victim. Another variation of "she was asking for it". But it also sounds like an attempt to discourage legal abortions and the morning after pill.

I bet that who wrote this crap was all men. They are just discrediting women who do get raped and try to donwplay it. Women DO get pregnant from rape. Not all women do, but some do. I cannot believe that there are still people out there that will believe this crap considering how much publicity there is about how bad rape is, etc. these days! It is appalling and disgusting! Men who write this stuff are chauvinist pigs in my book.

They're usually men and they're idiots. There are a lot of rape babies born every year. Just ask any nurse that works at the local hospitals.

Not true, I was raped and got pregnant from it. The night before my wedding (not my husband). It can happen.
