congratulations!!! you are the 100th million person to ask this freakin' question!!! didn't you notice when you type a question in, there are already similar questions, that have been answered, available in Y! Answers? pay attention people!! if you don't know till now what the green dot is for, then why are you still watching football?...by the way, the green dot means "don't hit me cuz i'm a sissy"... (don't you just hate the protect the qb rules? they're football players too, so they should receive the same punishment the linemen take to protect their asses all game long!!!)

Each team is allowed to have one player with a headset inside the helmet to hear the coordinaters plays. It is marked with the sticker you are referring to.

the green dots are in fact a 3rd eye. a bio mechanical device created by certain rogue elements of the cia and kgb working in tandem outside the ranks of the normal power structure of washington and the kremlin.......but you didnt hear it here...shhhhhhhhhh........ok? Those are the helmets with a transmitter in them were the quarterback can hear the coaching staff calling plays. They are the only ones allowed to have the transmitters, that's why they are marked.

They are testing strips, every player has one on their helmet, and if the sticker turns green, it means that player is on streroids. They choose green because when the Incredible Hulk turns green when he gets juiced up.
