I am an Indian so can give some examples:
Gandhiji and others propagated non-violence to free India from the British Raj. Does that see India today as a violent free nation????C'mon think!!!!
But the reality is the objective of freeing India was achieved, Right?
So one has to see something like that.
My efforts had been and always will be to try not to change but impact upon lives. And I think I am successful in doing that, and I shall continue to do so no matter what.
Some try to fish in trouble waters, well I am concerned about such people, but my conclusion is such people always land up in hot waters themselves!!!!
So do I wait for such a thing to happen, no I continue to walk on, leaving the results or I like to say my footprints behind.
Not to be judged but, may my footprints be a judge of my life.

We start with ourselves. Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita "As long as there is animal slaughter, there will be war and famine." So we can do a lot to stop violence by not supporting animal slaughter which supports war and starvation. Why is this. Well what goes around comes around (karma) and every living being has a right to their life. Humans are only allowed to kill to protect oneself or to protect another. Otherwise one will get the karma (life for a life) Humans can live quite nicely without eating animal flesh. I have been vegetarian for 15 years and I know many healthy vegetarians. Because of all of the innocent animals dieing mercilessly in slaughterhouses humans have to reap what they have sewn. So massive war and killing must go on due to their sins. This is the law of material nature. So if we want to end suffering we have to stop giving suffering. That includes animals and other living entities. Kindly join me in helping stop war and starvation and the slaughter of innocent animals. Word Peace.

Violence should never be accepted by advanced societies. However, the fact remains, it is all to often necessary. The one limiting factor in violence is that we must always have proper justification for its use. Whether defending ourselves against an intruder in our home, or the invasion of a foreign land, the application of violence must and should forever be justified. It is when as individuals or societies that we become immune to the shock of violence that we all begin to fail to respect each other as humans.

How would I change it? Well, I believe in the non-aggression principle, which states that violence should never be initiated, and should never be used otherwise except in defense. If everyone adhered to this principle, then there'd be no more violence, because no one would be starting any! Even if most people followed it, then those who didn't would still be at least somewhat deterred in knowing that they may have violence used against them in defense.

Renounce violence in your heart and the violence in the world will be reduced by one. Encourage others to do the same, and the results will be proportional. Peace cannot be imposed from the outside. It has to be a choice within each individual.

We can't really stop violence or change. However, we are capable of preventing it from occuring. The less people cause violence, the less violent crimes there will be. We all have the choice but we don't have the power to change what others choose.

Violence is a necessary part of life, at least in our time. If you can't cope with violence than you can't cope with life. It's by learning to endure/act upon this violence and suffering that we learn to become better people, and without it we would all be weak.

There is no end. Violence is part of who we are. As long as there are people who commit these acts, others will have to answer back with violence of their own.

Anything can be justified (falsely), Hitler justified to his people what he did.

in wars get people to not take in everything there government shoves down there throat.get people to say **** you and we dont agree with that war were not going to fight. if we got soilders to do that then how would there be war. if the president wants someone killed he could take his *** over there and do it himself. but unfortunately most people believe that when the government says our country is in danger and we need to go fight everyone believes him and there patriotic self comes out. its like people are afraid to think for themselves
