I have a definitional essay due on why or why not a homosexual family is considered a family. My argument is that homosexual families are families. But I cannot find any articles on the topic.

I was wondering if anyone can give me a few reasons why a homosexual family is considered a family, and possibly some articles to back it up.

A "homosexual family" is a family because of the love that they share.

You are lucky he is only homosexual and NOT a rapist or murderer or committing incest, activities which are criminal and nowhere in the same category of being homosexual, but by the way you are making demands on your brother, they might as well be the same thing. No one is perfect but if you think your brother is committing a sin, since you are a Church goer, if Jesus could eat with the "outcasts" of society, then you should be able to do this with your brother as well.

How about this:
In 96% of US counties, and other state-defined jurisdictions, there are homosexually headed households.
In 99% of US counties there are openly homosexual people.

These #s come from the US Census Bureau and are from 2001.

What are any reasons that they couldn't be? The definition of a family is as follows:

1. parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.

Nowhere does it say "heterosexual parents and their children".

It doesn't matter whether it is homo or not, it is "Family".
All children need, is love and to know how to love, it is no matter if it is hetero or homo. All my friends that raised children all have turned out hetero, but very open and secure.
That is my life experience.
