I don't get myspace, 360, and similar sites...?

Question

Maybe it's my generation (X), but I don't see the point in doing a glorified web page about yourself with pics and blogs and whatever else when you can always just chat or email with friends. Why do this kind of stuff over a myspace page when it actually seems easier (to me) to connect with people over email and chat?

Could those that use these sites alot tell me what I'm missing? I'll go crank up the 360 and myspace site if I really am missing something, but I can't see it. Must be the glaucoma in my eyes since I'm so friggin old???

EDIT: forgot to add ... they seem more like dating sites to me where you try to meet new people. Let me know if this is why some of you have a presence on these sites.

wow...there seem to a lot of people getting talked into myspace by their sisters...lol

me too. i never wanted to mess with it...my sister talked me into it, and it's a lot more fun than i thought it would be.

i have mine set so only friends and family can see it...kind of like blocking everyone but your contacts here...lol

Actually my kids begged me NOT to get a myspace since I was sooo damned old. I created the original to keep up with my aunts and cousins who live out of town. (and my daughters are on my friends list) A few of my friends from work are on there I check it about once a month. I did create another account that is listed on my 360 page since some of my friends on the net were lots like me and some of their comments would not be acceptable for poor auntie JoJo to view..lol I still love my 360 the best..Multiply really sucks

I started mySpace to stay in touch with my martial art instructor and other students. He puts bulletins out on there etc. Since then, I have connected up with family and friends, including old high school buddies (I AM so friggin old!!!)

I don't use it all that often, but it does help me keep in touch.

well, myspace is a way to express yourself. i personally don't enjoy email, when you can just instant message. and that isn't always available. msypace is a community. you can meet new people, and i have connected with many people that i had not seen in years.

you're really just missing connecting with your friends in a cooler, more organized way. you can post bulletins, tell your friends how your feeling, and so much more. if you don't enjoy things like this, then i suggest you are missing nothing.

I thought the same thing,then my sister talked me into a Myspace page to show her my kids pictures and it evolved from there. You can do a search for your childhood school and find alot of ppl you knew from school,work, wherever. It helps keep in touch with ppl that you dont see often and its really easy to share pictures through myspace.

Well to be honest, I never saw anything in myspace until my stepsister talked me into making one. But once she did, it helped me to keep in contact with her and the rest of my family that's scattered all over the country, my friends in different citys/states/countrys (I have friends that were foreign exchange students, haha) and things like that. It's also fun just to be able to meet new friends and keep updated with your everyday friends.

undecided approximately that, yet i think of which you will purely positioned the form of innovations which you may tell an entire stranger, alongside with, at a bus end, on sties like those, that is too difficulty-free to offer innovations to the incorrect human beings, identity robbery is rife, and those form of folk could do is troll around those web sites to glean a lot of innovations on you!
