Have you ever been in an introspective mood and realized that you've been following a certain pattern your whole life. that you've been doing the same mistake with people over and over and over again without realizing it?

Oh, yeah. That's a great insight, too. Most people are in a pattern and never realize it. Even a good pattern needs some change, if only for personal growth.

You're on the right track. Next you have to figure out if you really want to let go of the pattern and try something else!

Good luck!

Yes. Mine is an attachment problem.
I think someone else hurt me, and that's why things ended (friends, mom, whatever.)
But it's really that I don't know how to stand up for myself, get my needs met, forgive others, and come back into the fold, no matter who did the wrong and who got hurt.
I just go away.
So, I must be avoidant disordered, though no therapist has given me that, I swear it fits me...
And I've tried to work on not letting go when things get tough.
And I'm learning to get my needs met, and defend myself, and fix my mistakes, and accept forgiveness, and stick around.
Slowly.
But yes, it was a shock when I realized that I lose everyone because of me, not because of what others do.

Yes. As a matter of fact...just recently. I just went through my second divorce. With the first one, it was clear to me that he was a sociopathic emotional dwarf and it was easy to place blame (on him)...but the second one was a very loving, kind and gentle man...and I still managed to keep him at arms length all the time, until he left...to save HIMSELF....it's hard to come to terms with my own lack.

Not yet. I'll greatly appreciate that experience when it happens.
