Yes, Bleach is a very strong oxidizer and will cause almost any metal to oxideze. I recommend really hot water and brush it with toothpaste.

RE:
does bleach ruin metal?
I have a cup that is important to me but it smells really bad, dont know why, i think i washed it with a dirty sponge. How do i fix it? its metal or silver plated on the inside, will letting it sit with bleach ruin it?

If it is silver plate then I wouldn't use bleach unless you just use a little bit. Definitely not full strength. Just use really hot water and soap and it that doesn't work then use a small diluted amount of bleach. Bleach wouldn't necessarily damage ordinary household metals, but I wouldn't trust it on silver plate.
Good Luck

Bleach is corrosive to metal if allowed to sit for a long period. You could wash it in a hot bleach water and take it out immediately and rinse and dry the cup. That will not harm it and should get rid of the smell .

I managed to reduce the corrosion greatly. The stuff I bought at the hardware store is called CLR Metal Cleaner. First I used vinegar mixed with baking soda which took off a lot of it but this stuff helped even more. Whew!
