I'm surprised he didn't make it, given that he was a far superior player to Pete Rose, who was included. Sure, Pete had the hits record, but check out Robinson's comps - Mel Ott, Griffey Mays, Mantle, Foxx - not just HOFers, but legends.
Frank should have made that team.

First off, Frank Robinson WAS an Elite player ! Sure, I get Ruth and Cobb etc but never saw them play. One was fat and slow, the other had no power. I SAW FRANK. He did. Mays and Mantle were in the spotlight cities and more famous because of it. Aaron suffers the same way. Frank was Barry Bonds without steroids. Just a bit better though. And Bonds was HOF material even BEFORE he took drugs. I'm a Reds fan. Saw Frank in his heyday. Would I take Frank or Trout in their prime......so far, i'm still taking Frank.....though Trout looks legit. I'm on the backside of my fifties and i'm white.....and I still say FRANK ! So you'll know where I stand....Willie Mays was the best player ever....Ken Griffey Jr second......then the log jam.......who else was an elite 5 tool outfielder w/o steroids? Hate to say it but maybe Rickey Henderson. Aaron and Kaline are on the radar. Frank and Mantle. Williams was a great hitter but I don't ever hear about his fielding or leadership leading to titles. Frank and Mickey get a leg up here. Never saw Mr Coffee play but his stats say it's him ! Love the discussion.

Because all of these outfielders are clearly better than Robinson.
Babe Ruth
Mickey Mantle
Ted Williams
Willie Mays
Ken Griffey Jr.
Mel Ott
Barry Bonds
Ty Cobb
Granted, Robinson was a great player, but he is not even close to one of the three greatest outfielders of the century.

I grew up a Dodger fan. Koufax, Drysdale, Wills. Frank Robinson no doubt belongs on this team.
But I'm confused...I just watched the SportsCentury piece on Frank Robinson and they talked about him not making the team and what a travesty that was. But then I looked up on the MLB website...and he's listed.
What gives? did they decide later their mistake?

Because the ACT was nothing but a marketing-driven popularity contest, and Rose has lots more popularity than F.Robby does.

There are some great ones and F. Robby was a great one. However, he isn't one of the top three. His defense would keep him out of the starting lineup.
