I've been saying that all the time
10 years
10 championship games
7 championship wins
1 career
and he played before the NFL had all those QB protection rules. The problem seems like nobody under 100 knows who he is

He was a great quarterback on a great team - and teams win championships. But I wouldn't say he was the best of all time.
Look at Terry Bradshaw - 4 super bowls in 6 years - but he was playing for the greatest team of all-time, if Archie Manning would have been selected instead of him - they probably would have won 6 years in a row. But I would say that Fran Tarkenton was the greatest quarterback of all-time. He held all of the passing records - when they only played 12-14 games a year, there were no rules about protecting the QBs back then, and the Dbs were allowed to mug the receivers all the way down the field - and he still threw for 47000 yards.

i imagine it changed into the biggest dissatisfied ever. optimal as a lot because the game, purely Giants followers had any faith. How embarassing changed into that loss? thinking they were trademarking the time period "19-0" it filled me with even extra pride as a Giants fan. Pre-orders for a comemerative e book, planning a eating position observed as 19-0, probable printing all type of t-shirts. changed into it a miracle? All championships are miracles. each champion in each interest has stuck a smash faster or later in the course of the season or certainly championship sport. yet changed into it a fluke? No. The Giants had continuously placed rigidity on solid offenses that three hundred and sixty 5 days, the operating sport presented sufficient stability, and Eli presented basically sufficient to get over the hump. Say all you opt for about Manning yet he has probable the finest suitable great Bowlcontinual on his resume. He do not have the numbers like Brady or his personal brother, he's a situational guy. His mode of questioning is "What do I surely ought to do now at this second to win?" And he further. EDIT: Giants did not go 8-8 that season. They were 10-6, were given the wildcard, beat Tampa, Dallas and eco-friendly Bay on the line to achieve the great Bowl.

Certainly the best of his time, arguably the best of all time. There have been some great QBs like:
Montana, Marino, Unitas, Starr, Layne, Baugh, Namath, Elway, Staubach, Tarkenton, Young, Fouts, Bradshaw, Favre, etc.
interesting to see where Brady and Manning will end up as well.

Greatest of his era without doubt but almost impossible to compare his play in the late 40s and 50s to modern day QBs. The game, the players, the skills required are drastically more refined.

i have a hard time comparing different eras. and since football is a team game, i can not say ten in ten was all about graham all the time.
you make a dang good point and maybe he was the greatest of his era, but that's as far as i can go with it.
if i had to pick one though, i like your #2, johnny u.

No, I would not agree. Greatest of his era? Don't agree there, either. I would go with Sammy Baugh. Graham was great and his teams had a great record, but ultimately TEAMS win games.

yep Otto Graham is the best ever. He just played too long ago for most people to even know who he is. The level of competition today is too tough for anyone to ever repeat what he did

As far as a leader, there are few to rival him. Statswise, he wouldn't compare to the players of today due to the nature of the game.
And sorry, but the object of John Madden's insatiable and unholy lust will NOT go down as the greatest QB of all-time.

Otto was ONE of the GREATS but, I also favor "Slingin'" Sammy Baugh of the REDSKINS and, T.C.U. Horned Frogs.
I had Sid Luckman at # 2.
