Okay well i know what plugs are and everything and i know it hurts at first, but how do you get started. How do you start stretching your ear out? My sis started with a toothpick...is that a good idea?

Umm....i'm not sure a toothpick is the best idea to be putting through ur earlobe but essentially the idea behind it is correct. if you want to begin gaging your earrings, you start with a small earring and wear that one for a certain period of time (not sure exactly but it's at least a couple of weeks) after which you get a slightly larger one. the repeated process of this action will allow your ear to grow to stretch around the earring thus enlarging the piercing until you stop enlarging the ring size.

My daughter owns and operates a tattoo and piercing shop. Her piercer has plugs. I personally think they're disgusting but to each his own! She does have stretched holes by using "gages" or whatever. You can go to Hot Topic or a piercing place and they'll help you with it. Be careful that everything is sanitized though. You don't want to get any infections. Good Luck.

You can buy gauging plugs. They're tapered and you keep pressing them into your ear (Slowly as it stretches) until you have the desired gauge.
