what hold does israel have on the higher and wealthier powers in our government??!!!
and even though its been publicly stated and documented that the war in Iraq was to secure Israel, what close ties do we have that would cause our leaders to grant such a favor???!!!

Because Israel and the US are allies in the war on terror.
Even if the US was not in Iraq/Afghanistan or anywhere else in the Middle East, Israel will be perpetually on the front lines.

If you take a look at history both parties have supported Israel. They are a democratic ally in an area of the world that isn't big on democracy. Why do you believe that history started in the year 2000?

What has Israel EVER done for the USA? Nothing. But our presidents all say, " we need to support Israel because they are the only democracy in the mid-east". So what? Democracy does not work in the Mideast. And since when is it the job of the USA to make the world a democracy? No one has yet, EVER given a good reason for the USA to give Israel our money interest free, our military weapons, free, and our support free of charge. But not for the blinding support of Israel by the USA, the Mideast would not be the pain in the a ss it is today. Because the USA supports Israel, Iran and others are lining up the CHinese and the Russians for support. Name one good reason the USA should support Israel, just one . . . . .

Well, there are a couple of reasons. One cynical, and one insane.
The cynical one, the one the politicians hold dear is the money and influence Israel and their lobby, AIPAC have in this country. So for politicians, they're willing to sell out the interests of the United States in order to collect money and votes and stay in power.
As for the religious lunatic fringe, well, now this is a truly scary tale. According to their maniac beliefs, the Second Coming of Christ cannot happen until all the Jews of the world are located in Israel again. So for them, making Israel a safe, secure place and making sure every Jew in the world goes there is about bringing on Armageddon. So they can die happy and stare at Jesus' face for all eternity.
To hell with the rest of us. Literally, as well as figuratively.
Are ya scared now? Cuz I am.

1. Neocon is a smoke & mirrors label thought up by liberals.
2. Israel stands up for it's right to exist, kills terrroists very efficiently, and is a democracy in a sea of Islamonazi countries.
3. You are WAY off base...the war in Iraq was undertaken to enforce the UN resolutions that Saddam thumbed his nose at.

lol...Israel is a democracy in a sea of Islam because the U.S. spends *billions* of dollars in foreign aid to make it so...a brutal proxy state power and beachhead for American imperialism. It isn't about ties, it's about fracturing muslim solidarity.

Israel has a right to exist in the face of terrorists that are trying to destroy them.
They have a right to exist.
They have a right to expect honest people to support that.
